lyrics

I walked down the steps at Vauxhall
bridge I took a walk along the dirty Thames
and the temple of the spies stood in the sky
and the light of the day was dying on the cranes
and 18 million people in cool rotation turned
tied one to another in ways they didn’t know
in one big soul
and in a Portuguese wooden neighbourhood
when I was lost and I felt afraid
I bent and kissed the virgin Mary’s feet
At a tiny shrine on a dark and cobbled street
And the prayers of the men and the women
Offered up from their hope and pain lifted me up
like one big soul
Well I’ve been around the world and now I’ve come back
and there’s one thing I know for a fact
Under all our the different faces
all our different skins our million different names
all our different lives and dreams and scenes
There’s only one big soul And the Sydney sun shines
soft and warm holds me tight like my mother’s arms ,
holds me tight and won’t let go. One Big Soul
